Spelling words with voiceless and voiced consonants at the root.

The letter B is at the beginning of the alphabet. It denotes a voiced consonant sound. But it doesn't always sound like that. The sound depends on neighboring sounds. When suddenly a quiet, muffled sound appears next to B, B immediately changes. Where does the cheerfulness, the ringing joy go?! In these cases, when writing a word, the letter B is often confused with its distant relative, the letter P. The sound it represents has the same labial origin as the sound b.

Today, in the apple store, along with entertainment applications, there are many educational programs and programs designed to test (if you are a schoolchild or student) or refresh your memory (if you have already graduated from an educational institution) your knowledge of both mathematics and the Russian language. So today let’s plunge into the rules of the great and mighty Russian language and evaluate our literacy thanks to the program “Spelling, a test game for knowledge of the Russian language” from Appscraft. Why did we choose it for this review? The answer is in the title. This is not just a test, as the developers claim, but a test game, which means testing your knowledge will at least not be boring. Well, let’s find out and evaluate, in turn, how good it is and whether it’s even worth our time and attention.
The knowledge test is structured in an interesting way. It is divided into 17 levels, the names of which correspond to certain stages in the life of almost any person. The first stage is kindergarten. Then school from first to eleventh grade, and then higher education, starting from applicant to academician. This is the so-called “Campaign” mode.

Each level consists of twenty questions, or rather tasks, where you need to choose the only correct one from several word options. There are only two types of tasks where you either choose the correct spelling of a word or the correct option for placing the emphasis. Grades are given on a five-point system. In order to move to the next level, you need to get a grade of at least “4-” and at the same time meet the allotted time. The higher the level, the less time is given to think about answers.

The game contains several modes. You have already become familiar with the main “Company” mode. The other two are Single Player and Two Player Play. In a single player game there are no divisions into levels. Here you simply answer twenty questions and get a grade for it. A two-player game is a competition where each player takes turns answering 20 identical questions, after which marks are given and information about the mistakes made is displayed.

The results of your efforts can be seen in the “learning statistics” section. Here you will find out how many times you received this or that mark, your average score and the five mistakes you make most often.

In the AppStore, in the comments to this application, there are many angry statements about errors in the answers. There was especially a lot of noise around the word “wallet”. According to the developers, it should be written with the letter “i”, that is, “koshilyochek”, which is not correct. I hasten to reassure you - they corrected this mistake and, apparently, they calmed down, but in vain. In addition to the above-mentioned word, there are other shortcomings in this program, as well as words for which the correct answer options are often questionable. This is especially true for setting accents. For example, the word "exhaust". As you can see in the screenshot below, my answer option, where the stress falls on the second syllable, is crossed out. As it turns out, the correct way to pronounce this word is with the emphasis on the last word. Having doubts, I naturally went for an explanation by clicking on the button of the same name at the bottom of the screen, which redirected me to Yandex dictionaries. According to one source, the truth is on my side, according to the second, the emphasis can be placed on both the second and third syllables. It turns out that I am right and so are the developers.

Sometimes you are surprised that you spend your whole life pronouncing a word incorrectly. For example, we always and everywhere hear and pronounce the word “anticipate” with the emphasis on the last syllable, but it should be on the penultimate one.

The shortcomings of the application include frequent repetition of words. On the one hand, this is even good, especially if a mistake is made in the repeated word. Willy-nilly, you will remember its correct spelling or correct emphasis. But here they are repeated in a chaotic order and are often those in which you least doubt and make mistakes. It also happens that in the answer options themselves there are two absolutely identical ones. And it happens that both identical answers are correct, you choose either one and you are wrong. Look at the screenshot below and you will understand everything.

Few of us can boast of one hundred percent knowledge of the Russian language, including me, but since the developers have taken on such a necessary and noble cause, then spelling and phonetic errors are simply unacceptable here, otherwise what is the point in such applications?

Pros: An interesting implementation of the passage system and the good old five-point rating system. Cute design in the form of a school board. The opportunity to remember what I forgot and find out what I didn’t know or doubted.
Minuses: Errors in words and their frequent repetition. Same words in answer options.
Conclusions: I would be happy to call this application useful and entertaining for both schoolchildren and adults, if not for the grammatical errors. They are absolutely unacceptable here! Developers, please bring your creation to mind, and everyone will be happy!

We have gathered today to conduct the game “The Last Hero” in the Russian language. You, the participants in the game, have a difficult task ahead of you: remember everything you have studied in spelling. style, and also stretch your imagination to become a winner.

Here are the rules of the game:

The Last Hero” consists of 2 rounds. First, you should divide into 2 teams (choose the team name, captain, because we will go with you on an exciting journey). The team that scores the fewest points in 2 rounds leaves the island (game). After each task, 1 person is eliminated from the team, those who scored the least points. This will be monitored by a competent jury. Those who drop out become fans. In the end, only one will remain, and he will be the “Last Hero of 2015.”

So let's begin. I invite you to take an exciting journey, test yourself, your strength and knowledge. You and I will go on a ship to a desert island. But not everyone will get on the ship...

Game "Typography"

Goals: expand children's vocabulary; develop ingenuity, thinking, erudition.

Note. The teacher can offer children any key word in terms of letter composition and interpretation, corresponding to a particular age of the children.

Description. Two teams of 8 people each take part in the game. For the participants in the game, you need to prepare two sets of cards with letters that form the word “literate”. The cards of one set differ from the other in color. The teams line up one against the other, each player has a card with a letter that he must remember. The teacher names one after another the words that can be made from the letters included in the word “letter”. For example: hero, sea, theme, thunder, atom, company, March, mountain, grotto, volume, mouth, din, magician, bargaining and others. Team members whose letters are included in the word called by the teacher take a step forward and line up so that each word can be read. The team whose representatives “form the word” faster is awarded a point. Then the players return to their seats and wait for the next word to be called. The team with the most points wins.

To make cards, you can choose other words in which all the letters are different. For example, from the word “file” you can make the following words: drops, paws, packs, sticky. From the word “tributary” - portico, tropic and others. For each class, words are selected that correspond in level of difficulty to the age of the students.

Game "Words on the topic"

Goals: to develop logical speech and thinking of students, to contribute to the creation of a favorable climate for collective and competitive work of children.

Note. With each age category, the given topics become more complicated by the teacher.

Description. The teacher asks the children to choose words related to a specific topic, for example: “The house where I live,” “Our school,” “A walk in the forest,” “At the grocery store.” The one who starts the game names all the words that he can remember (words that are not related to the topic are not written down). Then the teacher invites other children to add to this list. When all the additions have been made, the teacher invites someone to name at least one more word related to the topic that has not been named before. The winner is the one who named the most words, as well as the one who added the last one to the already named words.

After this, the players begin to select words for another topic.

Game of Fives

Goals: learn to combine words into a general topic, develop the ability to interact with team members.

Description. 25-30 people can participate in the game. Depending on the number of participants, it is necessary to prepare cards with words (or drawings) on certain topics: “Plants”, “Animal World”, “School Supplies”, “Vehicles” and others. For each topic, 5 words or pictures are selected. The cards are shuffled and distributed to the players. The tasks of the players: unite in groups of 5 people, so that in each group everyone has cards on the same topic. Finding among all the playing owners of cards with the necessary words (or pictures) is not at all easy. The first five, who correctly selected the words (pictures) and came to the teacher, receive six points, the second - five points, etc.

The teacher can announce the topics on which the A's should unite when all the cards have been distributed. But you don’t have to name the topics - let the guys guess for themselves. The game will be more difficult, but more interesting.

Game “Who can make up the most words?”

Goals: expand vocabulary, develop observation, attentiveness, thinking.

Guys! Help me read the words that have been composed. I guess that there was a fox here, she wagged her fluffy tail and mixed up all the words. It’s not for nothing that people say about a fox: “It wags its tail and covers all its tracks.”

In this game, the one who composes the most words wins.

(Words: perch, cat, whale, movie, window, note, etc.)

THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay. And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet. I wish you good luck and stay safe in Asia.

  • It’s also nice that eBay’s attempts to Russify the interface for users from Russia and the CIS countries have begun to bear fruit. After all, the overwhelming majority of citizens of the countries of the former USSR do not have strong knowledge of foreign languages. No more than 5% of the population speak English. There are more among young people. Therefore, at least the interface is in Russian - this is a big help for online shopping on this trading platform. eBay did not follow the path of its Chinese counterpart Aliexpress, where a machine (very clumsy and incomprehensible, sometimes causing laughter) translation of product descriptions is performed. I hope that at a more advanced stage of development of artificial intelligence, high-quality machine translation from any language to any in a matter of seconds will become a reality. So far we have this (the profile of one of the sellers on eBay with a Russian interface, but an English description):
